Clearly, good recruitment practice is crucial to the success of a business. If an organisation has a true commitment to the environment, then recruiting individuals with the same commitment is more likely to ensure that its 'green' values are adhered to on a day-to-day basis.

Ampleo has undertaken research which has helped it compile profiles of typical 'pro-environmental' employees. Organisations involved in the research varied in size and included Friends of the Earth, the Royal Mail, Carbon Clear, Aquatint, EcoLocal and Sutton Borough Council.

Ampleo prefers to work with organisations throughout the recruitment process, from design to delivery. By using specific types of interviewing technique alongside the usual, competency-based interview, Ampleo can ascertain whether individuals could bring a green factor to their job, to help deliver corporate environmental policies.

Ampleo can add to the traditional recruitment process, where applicants from inside and outside the company apply for specific jobs. For example, the appointment of 'green champions' to take on a more proactive greening role within the company can be made from existing members of staff.
