CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Change is unavoidable; sometimes it's planned, at other times it is forced upon a business, eg. a change in legislation. Ampleo filters the huge amount of research that has taken place around this issue, to use only that information which is relevant to a particular client.

Kotter summarises eight essential steps in change and insists that if any of them are missed or mismanaged the change process will not be successful. Ampleo, as an external consultant, can oversee the process objectively and thoroughly.

Ampleo, as an external change agent, can gather data, educate, advise, facilitate and coach the person or persons within the business who are driving the changes through. Ampleo offers a number of workshops designed to support sponsors and implementers of change, and can design workshops to meet your unique business needs.

Change Management workshop using MBTI

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator instrument is a versatile tool, which provides individuals and teams with a powerful understanding of their own and others' personality style. By understanding the differences between personality types, groups and individuals are able to work together more effectively, improving communication and reducing conflict. It is therefore particularly useful for change management by:

  • Identifying how different preference types view change and want to be communicated to about change
  • Revealing the amount of structure and support a team will need
  • Building awareness of team dynamics
  • Displaying those who want change and support it and those who may resist so they can be coached
  • Maximizing a team's diversity in order to reach more useful and insightful conclusions

Using OPQ32 to help facilitate change

Unlike other personality questionnaires, the OPQ is an occupational model of personality, designed solely for use in a business environment. The OPQ model provides a clear, simple framework for understanding the role of personality in the workplace and the impact it has on job performance. It is therefore particularly useful for enabling individual managers to:

  • increase their self awareness of how they are likely to react to change
  • see ways in which they need to adapt their behaviour to move with organisational developments
  • the OPQ32 can also be used by those managing the change process to help identify areas in which particular managers are likely to block or to be effective agents for change, so that this understanding can be used to facilitate change.
